The Recreation Foundation of British Columbia Endowment Fund
Donate and create a legacy for recreation
Recreation supports the health of our citizens, it helps protect our environment, and it contributes to the economic success of our communities. It matters. Parks play a unique role in preserving our natural capital and in being a destination for British Columbians to connect with nature.
The BC Recreation and Parks Association (BCRPA) works to ensure the recreation, parks and culture sector is understood and recognized for the role it plays and vital contributions it makes. Through its advocacy and leadership mandate, the Association champions the work of the sector, pursues opportunities on its behalf, and delivers training, funding, and programming in support of community health goals.
To help the Association continue its mission, The Recreation Foundation of BC raises funds for the BCRPA Endowment Fund. The current goal is to raise $1,000,000; it is currently at $500,000. The Foundation provides BCRPA with half of the interest each year to help fund and maintain the work it does.
Contributions to the Endowment Fund may be made through the Vancouver Foundation. Charitable tax receipts for donations in excess of $25 will be issued by the Vancouver Foundation.

In the early nineties, an Endowment Fund was created by the BC Recreation and Parks Foundation to fund activities of the BCRPA once it reached its financial target of $1M. Given the challenging economic times, the target was later revised to $500k, which was reached and now the $1m goal has been reinstated.
In 2007, the Foundation became The Recreation Foundation of British Columbia and developed a new and broader purpose beyond the Endowment. The Foundation has preserved the Endowment Fund to assist in sustaining the Association now and into the future and this fund remains distinct from the Foundation’s community grants program.
